Ciao ragazzi! We have come to Italy to celebrate one of the world’s most beautiful carnivals … Carnival of Venice! Despite the cold, walking along the canals, ride on a gondola, or enjoy the sunset reflected in the dome of San Marcos Cathedral … really makes you feel like a princess in a fairy tale. The tradition began in the eleventh century, when the nobility decided to dress in order to get mixed with the rest of the people, and just have fun.
For two weeks, the beautiful Venetian alleys and canals have been filled with impressive and flashy costumes of that period, and of course … with thousands of masks! Each type of mask has a story and meaning … the Bauta, the Volto, the Moretta, the Columbian … and even the plague doctor! I could not resist, and bought several of those =)

In addition, during the Carnival several prestigious and exclusive private parties are organized at the stunning Venetian palaces … a real luxury! Other pleasures more affordable are the typical Venetian delicious sweets for Carnival: the Frittole, a sort of Venetian donuts, the gallant and trabucas.
If you go to Venice do not miss the Hotel Metropole, have a drink on the terrace of Palazzo Danielino (Hotel Danieli) and enjoy a delicious pizza, at a very good pric, in the Trattoria Osteria “Al Nono”

Ciao ragazzi! Hemos venido a Italia para celebrar uno de los carnavales más bonitos del mundo… ¡El Carnaval de Venecia! A pesar del frío, pasear por los canales, montar en góndola, o disfrutar del atardecer reflejado en la cúpula San Marcos… realmente te hace sentir como una princesa en un cuento de hadas.
La tradición comenzó en el siglo XI, cuando la nobleza decidió disfrazarse para poder mezclarse con el resto del pueblo, y simplemente disfrutar sin importar tu identidad. Durante dos semanas, los preciosos callejones y canales venecianos se han llenado de impresionantes y ostentosos disfraces de época, y por supuesto…de miles de máscaras! Cada tipo de máscara tiene una historia y significado…la bauta, la volto, la moretta, la colombina…e incluso el médico de la peste! Yo no pude resistirme, y me compre varias =)
Además, durante el Carnaval se organizan prestigiosas y exclusivas fiestas privadas en los impresionantes palacios venecianos… un auténtico lujo! Otros placeres más asequibles son los deliciosos dulces venecianos típicos del Carnaval: los frittole, una especie de buñuelos venecianos, el galano y las trabucas.
Si vas a Venecia no te pierdas el Hotel Metropole, tómate una copa en la terraza del Palazzo Danielino (Hotel Danieli) y disfruta de una deliciosa pizza, y a muy buen precio, en la Osteria Trattoria “Al Nono”
