Great Falls

Today I want to show you my favorite park in Virginia: Great Falls.
At Great Falls, the Potomac River builds up speed and force as it falls over a series of steep, jagged rocks and flows through the narrow Mather Gorge. The Patowmack Canal, built between 1785 and 1828, offers a glimpse into the early history of this country. Great Falls Park has many opportunities to explore history and nature, all in a beautiful 800-acre park only 15 miles from the Nation’s Capital

Hoy os quiero presentar mi parque favorito en Virginia: Great Falls.
Situado a tan sólo 24 de la capital de la nación, Washington DC, este Parque Nacional de 324 hectáreas es un remanso de paz y tranquilidad, con una naturaleza espectacular.
El río Potomac adquiere ímpetu a medida que cae sobre una serie de rocas empinadas e irregulares y fluye a través del angosto Desfiladero Mather, formando unas impactantes cataratas.
Además, el Canal Patowmack, construido entre 1785 y 1828, ofrece un vistazo a los comienzos de la historia de este país.
