Chichén Itzá

Greetings from Merida, capital of the Yucatan State, Mexico. Today we arrived to Puerto Progreso, and have directly headed for Chichen Itza, located in Tinum. After more than two hours of a bus ride, we finally arrived at one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a World Heritage Site by Unesco since 1988. It was founded on 525 a.C by Bacalar chans and at the post-classic period it was consolidated as the main center of power at the Yucatan peninsula. Today, it remains a sacred Mayan center.

To combat the high temperatures I picked a total white look, with a pamela hat included to protect me from the shining sun. Despite the heat, we enjoyed the impressive pyramid of Kukulkan, the Temple of the Jaguar, the Tzompantli (wall of skulls) the Ball Game, and the Sacred Cenote … A very interesting trip to the Maya world! Saludos desde Mérida, capital del Estado de Yucatán, México. Hoy hemos llegado a Puerto Progreso, y directamente hemos emprendido camino hacia Chichen Itzá, situado en el municipio de Tinum. Tras más de 2 horas de autobús, por fin llegamos a una de las Siete Maravillas del Mundo  y Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco desde 1988.  Fue fundada sobre el 525d.C por los chanes de Bacalar y  en el periodo posclásico se consolidó como el principal centro de poder en la península yucateca. En la actualidad, sigue siendo un centro sagrado para los Mayas.
Para combatir las altas temperaturas elegí un total look en blanco, con pamela incluída para protegerme del Sol. A pesar del calor, hemos disfrutado de la impresionante pirámide de Kukulcán, el templo del Jaguar,el Tzompantli (muro de calaveras) el juego de la Pelota, el Cenote Sagrado…  Un viaje muy interesante al mundo maya!
